Mission

The mission of The Vine Pastoral Counseling Center is to provide services for individuals, couples, families and congregations that will facilitate healing and wholeness in human life and relationships. Services will be provided to any person regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status or faith perspective.

Ministry

The Vine’s sliding fee scale is our ministry. We provide our counseling services at a fee determined by a person’s income. Our fee range is from $5 a session to $135 a session.

Our vision is that to make needed help available and not to have that dependent on ability to pay. We are able to do this with the contributions of 23 area churches, countless individuals and several companies in town.[/vc_column_text][/trx_column_item][/trx_columns][/trx_block][/trx_content][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_empty_space height=”50 px”][cq_vc_draggabletimeline images=”1144,1152,1512,1566″ avatarshape=”circle” avatarlabels=”The Need,The Beginning,10 Years of Service,Continued Growth” contenttitles=”1998 – The Need,,1999 – The Beginning,,2009 – 10 Years of Service,,2019 – Continued Growth,,The Future”]

The Vine began as a seed of an idea shared by many members of The Huntsville Association of Pastoral Care.  The need for a faith-based counseling center emerged from discussions among several area clergy clusters the most active of which were located in Madison.
The Vine opened for the first day of business with Amanda W. Ragland and Jim Norris serving as Codirectors with 10 supporting churches.   Jack Ragland joined the staff 2 years later.  The first year The Vine provided 1,217 sessions and 148 of these were Scholarship Assisted Sessions representing $3,436 of support.   The Vine began as a satellite operation with offices at First Baptist in Madison, Hope Presbyterian Church and First Baptist in Huntsville.
After 10 years, The Vine had provided 30,299 hours sessions, 3,435 of which were Scholarship Sessions for $96,025 of support.  Soon after the 10 year mark, Jim Norris retired from Codirector and remained at The Vine as a therapist, and Amanda Ragland continued as the Director.   The Vine was offered central office space donated by The Church of the Nativity Episcopal.  This allowed for much growth in both identity and service.   The Vine began its annual fundraiser, Branches of The Vine, in 2012.2019
Over the next 10 years, The Vine knew steady growth.   At the end of the 20th year, The Vine had provided 71,742 sessions with 14,234 of those being Scholarship Assisted Sessions for a total of $753,532 of support!   The Vine developed and expanded its original office space donated by Nativity, and we added therapists and support staff.   We currently have six full-time and two part-time therapists and 3 support staff.  We are positioned to serve.   The demand for services is increasing with July of 2020 being a record high of 60 new clients in one month.   So far, we are able to meet that demand with the help of many supporting churches and supporters from the community.   We are ready for the next 10 years to see where God will lead.

About Us

The Vine is an ecumenical pastoral counseling center that promotes emotional healing with the love and grace of Christ. For over twenty years the Vine has sought to facilitate healing and wholeness in human life and relationships using faith resources.

Individuals find relief from emotional distress, depression, anxiety, insecurities and spiritual stagnation.  Couples find the resources needed to save and repair their broken marriages.  Families are reconciled and learn to resolve conflict and to live emotionally healthy.

Our expertise is Pastoral Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.  Pastoral Counseling is provided by a professional who is both psychologically and theologically trained, who feels a sense of calling to service in the Church.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”15 px”][trx_button link=”/about-us”]Learn More[/trx_button][vc_empty_space height=”15 px”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”70 px”][trx_quote title=”Amanda Ragland”]I have been blessed so much in my life by the love and grace of Jesus Christ, and God has gifted me with the ability to listen, with gifts of healing.  I want to make God’s love known more and more in the world. I do it for the thrill of seeing the Lord at work, and I am excited to be a part of it.  Every time a person heals, God’s love is known that much more in the world, and that person is then equipped to pass that love on further. There is no energy quite so contagious as a person newly healed and newly free.[/trx_quote][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
